This was a challenging Art Week, somehow our baby caught a terrible cold. The symptoms caused her to wake up wailing in the wee hours and our entire household suffered greatly. Finally by Sunday she was feeling a bit better and we decided to venture to Art Miami as a family unit.
We found decent parking just a few blocks away from the former Miami Herald site. We strolled our daughter there only to discover that we had to leave behind our stroller outside the tent (like some coat check). This inconvenience forced my wife and I to take turns carrying the little 25lb darling from booth to booth, lest she touch or overturn everything she could get her hands on. This process proved to fill our gym requirement for the week, and greatly distracted us from fully enjoying the art.
We encountered friendly people, some with their “service dogs” and other gallerists who allowed us to take a load off and sit for a rest. We did notice other families in the same boat as us, though some of those kids were either small enough to wear in a carrier or old enough to mind their parents. Alas this could not go on any longer and we decided to shlep our way back home. Though the art at the fair gets an A+, we had to assign an F rating to their family friendly department.
