M.G. May is a professional student and a general admirer of the arts. He is an amateur music and movie historian with his primary artistic interests lying in those fields. Though he seems happiest with any manner of -board beneath his feet, he greatly enjoys exploring a wide manner of interests, activities, and studies. These include golf, literature, snorkeling, socializing, and apparently even journalism. He resides in Pompano Beach.

Galactic – Revolution (1/22/12)

Naw’leans came to Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend in the form of Galactic along with their friends Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and Bobby Lee Rodgers.  All these guys were fresh off the boat from Jam Cruise 10 and this show was billed as a post-cruise party.  It only happens a coupla times a year, but here was one to really get excited about!

Everyone’s seen enough shows to know how things work with opening acts.  It’s usually the case that the warm-up acts can’t hold a flame to the main offering… but every once in a rare while you get surprised by the quality… (click for more)

Jennifer Kaiser – Ricochet Bar & Lounge (1/8/12)

Ricochet Bar & Lounge in Midtown Miami has instituted a new Sunday night program that showcases live acoustic performances by local and international acts.  This singer/songwriter series kicked-off 2012 with a performance by Ed Kowalczyk of LIVE, and this past week we were treated to a performance by local talent Jennifer Kaiser.

My Morning Jacket w/ Delta Spirit – Sunset Cove Amphitheater (12/10/11)

It’s kinda nice going to a show without any expectations. No thoughts of “I hope they play this” or “I hope they do that” or even more basically “I hope it’s worth it”. Yes, having no expectations is an extremely refreshing perspective. So, when I was asked to review My Morning Jacket’s show at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater, I was excited about the prospect of checking out this relatively new venue being shook-down by a band about which my only impression was: they sure sound “Powerful”.
