The toughest thing about Art Week is trying to make it through the work day knowing I’d rather be at the fairs. Some lucky people take the entire week off in order to burn the candle at both ends and regain the strength to carry on for another day. Fortunately this week has been busy and I’ve had to focus on what I do during the day; that being said arriving to Untitled with less than one hour to close made it impossible to see 1/4 of the fair. I did meet some great people and encountered impressive art works but I will be back over the weekend hopefully with less stress.
After stopping for a quick bite along the way, we walked to the Aqua opening. The place was slam packed, attendees were still lined up to enter even after 8pm. Situated in the old-style South Beach hotel, each and every room is converted into a mini showcase for the various galleries which always deliver fantastic work. This night, though cooler than usual, still made the tiny rooms quite stuffy and at times too crowded. Some artists and gallery concepts that stuck out are featured below including the folks from Upcycling Art Show using 100% re-purposed materials to create their works. I look forward to continuing to explore all the great fairs and events for the remainder of the weekend!
