Michael Mut is a multitasking musician from Hialeah who plays in a couple of different bands around town. We met a few months back at work, where we bonded over the bass guitar and our love of music. Michael plays everything from classic rock to new wave 80’s music but his main project Electric Piquete is a funky Latin fusion that gets your body moving.
I had the opportunity of meeting up with Michael at the Shack North in Hialeah where we spoke during a recent rehearsal. Having never seen Electric Piquete perform I was impressed with their ability to jam around some new tunes and have so much fun together. That night Michael, Ed Rosado, Rich Dixon, Chris Correoso, and Charles Gardner allowed me to be a fly on the wall while they worked out song arrangements. For this episode we will have the interview intermingled with an audio sample of one of the new songs. (Please note that the audio will get louder once the music kicks in around 19 minutes thirty seconds.) This coming Friday, August 11 Electric Piquete will be celebrating their ten year anniversary at Ball and Chain in Little Havana accompanied by some good friends and fellow musicians from the community.
On Monday, August 7 Michael was featured on the Only in Miami Show, 880AM or bit.ly/wzabmiami
Tune into NBC on Friday, August 11 to see Electric Piquete performing Guayabera on 6 In the Mix at 11:30am.
