NADA Opening DayManuevering around Miami is always difficult but when you add Art Week it gets harder; add an infant and it is near impossible. As a 10 plus year Art Week veteran and new father I can attest that getting around from fair to fair has never been more challenging. My wife and I are determined to experience as much of the festivities regardless and fortunely our daughter has been a champ in the process. Through the years we discovered that for the events west of Biscayne Bay, by parking near a metromover station you can get from the Schoolboard Station for NADA and Satellite Art Show then get off at Omni Station for Art Miami and Context then hop back on into the heart of downtown to the Knight Center Station for Prizm, Subliminal Projects and Juxtapoz. The beach is a little more difficult to maneuver, we are lucky to have family to step in for today.
Art Week has passed and Art Weekend is here. Here are a couple of photos from the fairs we’ve enjoyed so far including: Untitled, NADA, Art Miami, Prizm, Juxtapoz, and Subliminal Projects. Musical highlights include watching Rebecca Gates perform as a collaboration with Merge Records, 350.org and NADA. PAMM hosted Antibalas on the bayside of the museum for a spectacular performance. What will be next for you? We definitely recommend what we have seen as well as what we hope to see today: Scope, Ink, Aqua, and Pulse. I am beginning to notice the parents more and more braving the fairs with their little ones, godspeed to you!
