Kelly Breez is a prolific artist who creates massive quantities of work, while maintaining her recognizable style and consistent quality. Her work includes: film photography, drawings, and paintings on wood, which are often glazed over with a coat of resin. A Tropical Person, Breez finds inspiration in coastal lifestyle, she currently resides in the Magic City. My earliest memories of her work date back to 2016 where she debuted a couple of pieces through Locust Projects during Art Week.
Kelly Breez took a break from working on a painting for an LA exhibit celebrating Black Sabbath‘s 50th anniversary to talk with us in her studio. We sat and discussed the roundabout way her artistic direction has ended up where it began, including how family influenced her. She talks about how she enjoys working under pressure like she did in 2017 for the two solo shows: Fake News and Fuck It Will Set You Free. Upcoming events include: October 13– Locust Projects Smash and Grab event; Facebook Artist in Residency in November, Soho Beach House during Art Week.
